asm.js is a strict subset, an optimized version of the JavaScript scripting language for more low-level usage.

Being strict by nature it means asm.js can run in older browsers, even if not at maximum capabilities.

asm.js is basically a JavaScript compiler, taking syntax written in asm.js specific syntax and porting it back to JavaScript.

The entire system was inspired and modeled after C/C++ virtual machines, for faster compilation times and fewer runtime errors.

When finished, asm.js will allow developers to write more complicated JS code structure. while also benefiting from faster compilation speeds.

asm works with both AoT (Ahead of Time) and JiT (Just in Time) compilers.
